Pop-up development

Pop up books were inspired by moving books that was first made in 13th century and was made for adults, not a books for children. The first moving book was a volvelle which was a wheel shaped paper that could be rotated. It was used for illustrating theories, astronomical predictions, telling fortune, and more.  By then, in 18th century a publisher named John Newbery published a moving book for children.
In 19th century the first pop-up book was made by Ernest Nister and Lothar Meggendorfer. These books were very popular in German and Britain, which later spread to other countries.

Nowadays, pop-up was developed into art besides children books. Creativity has made some people start to make sculpture from pop-up paper.
